Engineering Philosophy & Mental Models

I am an engineer and lifelong learner based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. My journey did not originate behind a software development desk, but from commercial diesel engine compartments operating under thousands of bars of pressure with stringent mechanical and electrical tolerances.

Beyond core engineering, I am an active reader of analytical disciplines: philosophy of science, systems dynamics, history, and biographies of technological pioneers. This interdisciplinary literature shapes my mental model when tackling complex distributed software architectures, state machines, and hardware-software communication interfaces.

Life Journey: From Automotive Workshop to Software Engineering

• Since 2008: Computational Exploration from Modern Web, Low-Level C, to Rust My journey in computing began autodidactically in 2008 by exploring the early modern web era with PHP and JavaScript through the Node.js ecosystem. Driven by a deep fascination with how software directly interacts with physical hardware, I delved into low-level programming starting with C, subsequently expanding into systems engineering with Go, Kotlin, and C++, alongside architecting modern, memory-safe vehicle diagnostic runtimes in Rust inspired by the OpenVehicleDiag (OVD) paradigm for Indonesian commercial fleet environments.

• 2012 – 2022: Workshop Foundation in Automotive Diesel Systems Starting from the workshop floor as a junior mechanic (Mechanic-III) in Semarang executing regular maintenance and assisting heavy repairs, I advanced to Certified Mechanic II and grew across a decade of hands-on mechanical and technical advisory roles as Mechanic, Service Advisor, and Field Advisor across authorized Isuzu dealer networks (PT Karya Zirang Utama and Armada International Motor) in Semarang, Depok, Magelang, Tasikmalaya, and Yogyakarta. This extensive cross-regional tenure forged deep expertise in diesel Engine Management Systems (EMS), electrical troubleshooting, analog and digital signal waveform analysis, sensor/actuator benchmarking, and commercial fleet breakdown investigations.

• Since 2014: Decentralized Systems Journey from Bitcoin to Cosmos Architecture My venture into decentralized computing began in early 2014, captivated by Bitcoin’s revolutionary vision of trustless consensus. That initial fascination quickly matured into deep architectural exploration: experimenting with early programmable money via Ethereum smart contracts (Solidity), analyzing consensus dynamics during the early DPoS era of EOS, and exploring Substrate modularity in Polkadot. This architectural odyssey ultimately culminated in building full-stack sovereign blockchains (app-specific chains) using the Cosmos SDK, CometBFT consensus engine, and Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocols since 2020.

• 2021 – Present: Convergence of Dual Disciplines Following intensive software engineering training at Binar Academy (Fullstack Web Development) and graduating from the Interchain Academy, I transitioned into full-time software engineering at Kewr Digital in October 2022. Since April 2024, I lead the Automotive Diagnostics & Digital Solutions division, architecting vehicle diagnostic interfaces (VCI), interactive technician e-learning platforms, and engineering Kewr Digital's Rust-based OpenVehicleDiag (OVD) platform tailored specifically for the Indonesian commercial fleet ecosystem.
